Parking Guidelines & Policies

For permit holders

  1. As a permit holder, you may pay for your parking either by payroll deduction or annually. If you elect payroll deduction, you must pay for the first month of parking at the time you pick up your permit. If you select the annual payment option, you must pay in advance for the year. The only period available for annual parking is July 1 to June 30. Monthly payments are only available to those who are not on JHMI payroll and are sold by the calendar month only.
  2. Monthly renewals are due in full by the 10th of each month.
  3. Permit holders must pay for their parking on a continuous basis. There is no allowance for vacation or personal absence.
  4. Permit holders on an approved L.O.A. or Rotation must come to the main Parking Office (Harvey/Nelson 108) prior to their leave, and complete a L.O.A./Rotation form to be exempt from parking fees during their absence. Upon their return, permit holders must come back to the main Parking Office to have their parking privileges reinstated. There is a 6-month limitation on a L.O.A. or Rotation. All return notifications must be in person at the main Parking Office.
  5. Parking permits are not transferable. There will be a charge for replacement of lost or damaged cardkeys.
  6. To cancel your parking permit, you must come to the main Parking Office with your permit and complete a cancellation form (cancellation cannot be processed at any of the parking garages). Parking fees will continue to be deducted until the cancellation form is submitted. Refunds are only issued for fees charged to you after the cancellation date.
  7. It is the permit holder's responsibility to report any changes in employment or student status which would result in a change in his or her parking fees. Failure to do so may result in parking privileges being revoked until outstanding parking fees owed are paid.
  8. All traffic laws of the State of Maryland are applicable to the parking facilities. The speed limit is 10 MPH in all facilities.
  9. If a permit holder needs to leave his or her car in a parking facility for an extensive period of time (1 or more weeks) he or she must contact the parking facility's manager before leaving the car. Vehicles with expired or missing tags will be treated as abandoned and are subject to towing at the owner's expense.
  10. If you forget your parking permit, you have 30 minutes from the time you enter the parking facility, to obtain an emergency pass from the parking facility's manager.
  11. This permit entitles you to park one (1) vehicle at a time in your assigned facility only. You may park in other on-campus facilities during Base Access time periods (4:00 p.m. - 8:30 a.m., Monday - Friday, weekends & designated JHH holidays). Note: If you park in a facility other than the one you are assigned to during the Base Access time period, you must move your car to your assigned facility before the Base Access time period ends or you may be charged the applicable daily rate for parking.

PROPERLY PARK AND LOCK YOUR VEHICLE! Do understand that you are utilizing JHMI parking facilities at your own risk of fire, theft and/or damage to your car and its contents.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE ABOVE GUIDELINES & REGULATIONS MAY RESULT IN THE TOWING OF YOUR VEHICLE AND/OR REVOCATION OF YOUR PERMIT. If you have any questions, please call the main parking office at 5-5333 or 5-8803, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
