A JH Affiliate was assaulted in the 1700 block of E. Monument Street.

CAMPUS:  East Baltimore Medical Campus

INCIDENT TYPE:  Assault

LOCATION:  1700 Block E. Monument St. (between N. Broadway and Rutland Ave.) 

DATE:  June 14, 2019

TIME:  5:00 PM

SUSPECT INFORMATION:  5-7 teen-aged males; no further description.

It has been reported to Corporate Security that a JH Affiliate was assaulted at the location noted above. The victim was walking westbound through the 1700 block of E. Monument Street (north side sidewalk) when a group of approximately 5-7 juveniles struck the victim twice to the back of the head as they ran by.  The juveniles continued to run westbound on E. Monument Street, then northbound on N. Broadway until reaching the MTA subway entrance where they entered and ran down to the platform. The victim was not injured, nor did they want to file a report with Baltimore Police.

SAFETY TIPS

  • All faculty, staff and students are reminded to remain alert and aware of their surroundings.
  • When walking, whenever possible walk in groups of two or more.
  • Utilize 24/7 escort and transportation services while on campus.
  • Should you find yourself the victim of a robbery, do not resist and do not pursue suspects.  Always remember to stay calm, listen and observe intently, surrender any requested property and report the crime as soon as possible.
